We provide some statistics of Patch technology to show you some prospective results of using EaseBackup with some applications.
The table below contains comparative test results of using Patch and Standard technologies. Let me begin by explaining what the numbers in the table mean. First, we started with an existing file. The file was backed up with EaseBackup. Since this is the first backup of the file it was compressed and stored at the storage. Then, some changes were made to the file simulating the daily activity of making changes and updates. Notice, in the table, how the file size was changed. EaseBackup was run again on the same file, this time creating a patch of only the changes made to the file. The patch represents the amount of information necessary to store to have a complete version of the file to restore. Finally, we show the percent reduction which simply shows how much smaller the patch file is compared to the full changed file size.

Of course, size of the patch file in many respects depends on a format of the file. Some applications have very bad format. One of them is Microsoft Excel 97. Every time when you make no matter how small changes it changes all content of the file. That's why we recommend you to use Microsoft Excel 2000/XP or save your files from Excel 97 in Excel 95 format. Excel 95/2000/XP files can be patching very effectively. This is not a problem of our algorithm: high-cost patching software ( $10,000 ) can reduce size of Excel 97 files maximun on 50%.
