     During backup process Software tries to prevent writing operations to the backing file.  To achieve that it locks a file (but accepts read operations) before backup. All works fine if a file was not opened by another application.  But many office programs, like Microsoft Word, lock files themselves.  Moreover, some programs, like e-mail clients (Microsoft Outlook), work 24 hours in a day and keep files opened all time.

     To backup these files it's necessary to use other backup method.  Our Software supports an unique technology to backup any open files by using special kernel driver on your Windows NT/2000/XP system.  The driver hooks all operations to a backing file and returns an unchanged version of the file. Hard words?  May be, but practically you have to simply press one button to install the driver and restart your operating system. After that you can run backups as usual and forget about skipped files!  The image below describes how the driver works:
