Agentless backups of remote clients
How to do agentless backups of remote clients?
|
|
EaseBackup 5.80 and higher can do agentless backups of remote clients.
It means you do not need to install EaseBackup on each computer you want to backup.
The biggest benefits of our agentless backups in compare with usual LAN backups are:
- EaseBackup uses read-only snapshoots of remote hard drives to backup files.
That allows you safely to backup open files, open databases (like MS Exchange
Server and MS SQL Server) and registry files!
- EaseBackup saves NTFS file security and streams of remote files and folders along with file data.
So, you can restore all data!
The first step to use this feature is to add remote clients (computers) you want to backup.
Use Configure agentless clients... command from the Tools menu to
add, edit and delete agentless clients.
Add all clients you want to backup and press the Save button. Close EaseBackup Explorer and run
it again to see changes. Now you can create your Backup Sets as usual and select remote files to backup:
To make agentless backups to work, remote computers must follow some rules:
- They must have IPC$ and ADMIN$ system shares. Usually all Windows computers have them.
- Username and password must be for an account with admin rights and have "Log on as a service" right.
- Security Policy of a remote computer must have "Security Options -> Network access: Sharing and security models for local access" set to "Classic".
- Your firewall must be configured to allow Windows File Sharing (ports 137-139), Microsoft Directory Service (port 445)
and Command port (usually 4355 or whatever you set at the properties).
