BackupMe Settings
|
|
There are a number of settings defining the way BackupMe operates. You can modify them any time you wish. Activate Settings page and Settings window will appear. There are the following settings pages in BackupMe:
During backup on a remote FTP Server, BackupMe connects to InterNet. Setup your dial-up and proxy settings here. There are basically two ways to establish a connection to the backup server:
- Dial-up connection - Usually we use a "Dial-up connection" at home, or on the road. You have to select the name of your existing connection in the combo box "Connect using" and enter your username and password. Double click on "My Computer", then "Dial-up Networking" to setup the dial-up parameters.
- Local network - Usually we use a "Local network" in a company, or if you have a permanent connection to the Internet. Often companies use "proxy servers" to protect the local network from outside attacks. Contact your System Administrator to get information about your proxy servers.
An email can be sent after a backup process has finished. You can configure where the email log will be delivered by typing the email information below. To disable feature, just leave (From/To:) blank. You can insert more than one e-mail address, but each one must be separated by a semicolon (;).
There are basically two methods to send an email message:
- Use the built-in Windows MAPI subsystem - BackupMe uses the universal interface to MAPI-compliant default mail client to send an email message. It uses the default MAPI profile. The mail will only delivered if there is a single defined MAPI profile on the computer.
- Direct connection to SMTP/POP3 servers - BackupMe directly connects to a standard SMTP/POP3 server and sends an email message through it. You have to enter addresses and ports of the SMTP and POP3 servers; the username and password to login to the POP3 account. Contact the system administrator of your SMTP/POP3 server to get the following information.
You can specify your POP3 account because some email servers (like Yahoo!) need POP3 authorization before sending of email messages.
