Backup of opened files
|
|
During backup process BackupMe tries to prevent writing operations to the backed at this moment file. To achieve it BackupMe locks file (but accept read operations) before backup. All works fine if the file was not opening by other application. But many office programs, like Microsoft Word, lock files themselves. Moreover, some programs, like e-mail clients (Microsoft Outlook), work 24 hours in day and keep files opened all time.
To backup these files it's necessary to use other backup method.
BackupMe supports unique technology to backup any opened files by
using special kernel driver on your Windows NT system. The driver
will hook all operations to backing file and returns to BackupMe unchanged
version of the file. Hard words? May be, but in reality you
have to simply press one button to install driver and restart your
Windows NT system. After that you can run backup as usual and
forget about skipped files! Besides, you can configure driver to
improve performance and integration with fastidious applications.
The image below describe how the driver works:
NOTE: Driver can work only on Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP and Without registration you can't backup opened files with size more than 1MB!.
