  • If you backup your files to FTP Server with access through slow communication lines and can physically access the server, you can use a special trick to avoid huge network transfers during full backups:

    1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).

    2. Open the following key:
    3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\KIESoft\123Backup
    4. On the Edit menu, click Add Value.

    5. Add the following value:
    6. Value Name: RedirectFTPTransfersToDiskFolder
      Data Type: REG_SZ
      Data: X:\path\to\folder\to\store\backup\archives
    7. Click OK.

    8. Start full backup. 123Backup will ask you to confirm the folder to store backup archives.

    9. On the Edit menu, delete the RedirectFTPTransfersToDiskFolder value.

    10. Quit Registry Editor.

IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.
